Dialog Semiconductor is supplying its DA8620 passive matrix OLED driver to Lenovo for the s800 colour feature phone.
The S800 is the first commercial phone to offer a transparent colour display, said Dialog, using its SmartXtend brand driver technology.
SmartXtend is a set of driving techniques for passive matrix OLED (PMOLED) that includes a multi-line addressing scheme, pre-charge schemes and dynamic current matching to reduce peak current and the average power consumption of the display. It currently supports resolutions up to QVGA.
"PMOLED displays are offered with a transmittance effect greater than 50 percent, thus ideal for see-through or transparent displays applications," said Dialog.
The chip ships in bare die form with gold bumps suitable for mounting on flex or glass.
