Marconi’s Synchronous Digital Hierarchy
(SDH) technology forms a major part of the contract. As part of the SDH based offering, Marconi will also provide its “ServiceOn Transport” management system. The software package will allow Telecom New Zealand to view its whole network from the highest level right through to the customer’s data socket, said the two firms.
“With ServiceOn Transport, we will be able to locate and diagnose faults, which ultimately improves customer satisfaction,”
said Gavin Knight, Telecom New Zealand’s transport manager.
