Philips plans threaten jobs in SurreyChris DrucePhilips Research is reducing staff numbers at its laboratories across the world, resulting in the possibility of 50 job losses at its Redhill site in Surrey.
The research laboratory conducts work for areas that are currently badly affected by the slowdown in the industry; display technologies and wireless comms.
A company spokesman confirmed that 20 scientific jobs
and 30 support and management jobs could be at risk, although things were far from set in stone.
The cuts are part of a global reduction of 300 people by 2003.
