Scottish chip firm adds software jobsAlex Mayhew-SmithFabless network processor company Wintegra is planning to expand its software team in Scotland over the next year.
The firm is to add four or five software engineers to its site at the Strathclyde Business Park in Bellshill over the next year.
"We have done the productisation of the software and now we are seeing how to add software to the product suite
to meet customers needs. We are doing the development for the manufacturers which will reduce their time-to-market," said Colin Alexander, the firm's technical marketing manager for Europe.
Wintegra has development teams based in Israel and the US but the UK office will be taking more of a lead in the wireless area. "For the wireless market we will drive our push from the UK," said Alexander.
The firm also plans the release of further products
this summer, including conditioners for channelised interfaces, said Alexander.
The company is close to finishing another round of funding, which is hoped will take the firm to the break-even stage. Wintegra intends to pursue an IPO in a few years time.
"We are in it for the long term and are not going to take the easy way out," said Alexander.
