Philips Polymer Vision says it has developed a five inch roll-up
display with contrast similar to viewing paper.
The firm, a division of Philips Electronics, said the 320x240
pixel (QVGA) display should be in production within two years.

When not in use the 100µm-thick display can be rolled up
into a housing with a radius of just 7.5mm.
Contrast ratio is claimed to be 10:1, enabling daylight viewing,
said Philips, with four grey scales available from each pixel.
To reduce power consumption and increase battery life, the
display uses a bi-stable material from E Ink.
The firm said it is looking for partners to move towards volume
manufacturing, and third party investment.
