Galileo competition launches in May

The UK Galileo Masters Competition opens next month, to identify applications and technologies for Galileo, the European GPS-like satellite navigation system due to operate in 2008.

There are two events, one at EADS Astrium in Stevenage on May 9, and one the next day in Nottingham University. Dates for workshops in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Portsmouth are to be announced.

Entries will be accepted from May 1 to June 30 and the winner will go on to the European competition, said Helen Ashby, spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Business Incubation Centre which is co-ordinating the UK competition.
