|NewsletterThe Network Processing Forum (NPF) recently published the Look Aside (LA-1B) interface implementation agreement (IA).
Successor to the widely implemented LA-1 interface, the LA-1B IA was developed to standardise the movement of data between network processor units (NPUs) or application specific integrated circuits (Asics) and co-processors such as network search engines (NSE) and high-speed SRAMS.
The LA-1B IA was developed with the close coordination of the
QDR SRAM Consortium and JEDEC, which helped standardise the 1.2V
I/O called Bus Interconnect Logic (BIC) needed for the
LA-1B.
A free white paper, "NPF LA-1B: Next Generation Look-Aside
Interface" is available to explain the enhancements in the new
standard and show how these will benefit designers of
next-generation communications systems.
