|NewsletterPower-One and Silicon Laboratories have agreed to settle and resolve the patent infringement lawsuit filed by Power-One last December.
As part of the agreement, Silicon Laboratories will begin joint development work with Power-One on products compliant with Power-One’s digital control bus technology known as Z-One.
Z-One defines a digital interface for controlling power chips and modules on PCBs. The work will initially focus on the Silicon Laboratories Si825X digital power controller and the Power-One ZM730X family of digital power manager products.
“We look forward to working cooperatively with Silicon Laboratories on new digital power products. Their Si825x product family has very exciting potential as a platform for our Z-One technology,” William Yeates, CEO of Power-One.
Power-One will offer licences to Silicon Laboratories customers using the Z-One interface. But it is not providing any intellectual property licences to Silicon Laboratories as part of this agreement.
David Breseman, v-p for wireline products at Silicon Laboratories described it as a “win-win result”.
