|NewsletterIDT (Integrated Device Technology) has announced that ConSentry Networks has chosen to incorporate IDT network search engines (NSEs) into its LANShield Controller.
The network search engine is designed to assist in off-loading the critical packet header processing functionality needed to effectively integrate security features.
In addition, the NSE ensures that the controller can provide authenticated, secure and seamless LAN access while maintaining line rate performance.
The LANShield Controller is a LAN security system that gives enterprise IT systems complete control of the LAN, without compromising performance. It delivers Layer 2 – 7 deep packet inspection at 10Gbit/s rates, enabling the device to sit inline and fully secure every port on an enterprise LAN.
IDT's NSE is optimised for offloading compute-intensive Layer 2-4 tasks, such as access control list lookups used in implementing security in enterprise applications.
This offloading of compute-intensive functions allows the LANShield controller to devote resources to qualifying the necessary user accesses - up to 250 million searches per second - while enabling businesses to protect their corporate assets, ensuring continuity of operations and dramatically reducing the risk of security breaches.
