Distributor Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of
Avnet, has announced the development of a new radio frequency
identification (RFID) system that combines a printer encoder with
an RFID software suite.
Targeting system integrators, embedded OEMs and value-added
resellers, the Avnet Enterprise Mobility team bundled the system
with its channel partners for a fully tested, integrated package
that includes Printronix’s new SL4M UHF RFID printer encoder,
Stratum Global’s TagNet software suite and a variety of compatible
wireless RFID reader systems.
Avnet said it can also incorporate complementary server and
storage technologies. Avnet’s Enterprise Mobility team will support
partner implementations of the solution with product integration,
technical and sales support, and marketing programmes.
“The Avnet Enterprise Mobility team is helping its partners
develop new revenue generating opportunities,” said Michael
Douglass, v-p of enterprise mobility at Avnet Technology Solutions,
in a statement. “The Printronix and Stratum Global solution reduces
major barriers to RFID adoption by including best-in-class
technologies along with support from Avnet’s technical, sales and
marketing teams.”
Avnet has been beta testing the Printronix printer in its
logistics centre for the past four months. According to the
distributor, the Printronix printer costs 40 per cent less when
compared to similar printers and delivered significant operational
improvements due to its simultaneous support of four communication
interfaces with auto-sensing and five embedded printer
emulations.
“RFID enablement can be complex in any given business
environment,” said Alan Christensen, CTO at Stratum Global, in the
statement. “By joining forces with Avnet, Printronix and Stratum
Global, channel partners can generate new sales opportunities in
the RFID market by simplifying implementations and providing their
customers with a fully tested, complete solution that addresses
their specific business needs.”
