Via Technologies has seen its energy efficent microprocessor technology used in the HP Compaq dx2020 PC which will be sold in China.
According to Via, environmentally sustainable computing is a key element of system design.
Energy efficiency is the new mantra for the OPC industry. Last month, for example, AMD introduced its DTX standard specification aimed at supporting the development of energy-efficient, small form factor PCs.
China's own RoHS rules came into play in February and this compliant PC features the firm's 1.5GHz VIA C7-D processor, which was launched last year as the world's first carbon free processor with a maximum power of just 20W.
According to Wenchi Chen, president and CEO, VIA Technologies: "This represents a great opportunity for many more Chinese businesses of all sizes to upgrade their operations while minimising their power costs and environmental impact."
