|NewsletterMobile phones are now used more than twice as often as landlines for calls in the UK according to Ofcom's Communications Market Report 2007.
In 2006, mobile connections accounted for 69.7 million connections versus 33.6 million landline connections. Nine per cent of households also rely only on a mobile phone while seven per cent rely solely on a landline for communications.
The number of consumers using VoIP services is up from 14 per cent in 2005, to 20 per cent in 2006.
The survey also found that the total number of DAB digital radios sold in 2006 exceeded five million and 17.2 per cent of UK homes now have a DAB radio. DAB radios account for 18.6 per cent of the 1.8 million radios sold in 2006.
