CSR has added speech recognition software from US company Sensory to as an option to run on its latest BlueCore5 Bluetooth chipset.
It is the first time the Cambridge-based company has integrated speech recognition software into BlueCore.
The software, called FluentSoft, should allow designers to integrate speech control and command functions to Bluetooth mono and stereo headsets and hands-free car kits. These function are expected to include call control and dialling, battery level and control of music.
“Bluetooth mono and stereo headsets are decreasing in size, and speech recognition overcomes the challenges faced by a more limited user interface,” said Anthony Murray, v-p of CSR’s wireless audio business.
The software is designed to be speaker independent.
Earlier this month, CSR introduced its latest generation chipset BluCore 6.
