Electronic Design Engineers can specialise in many fields, including hardware design, software design, analogue and digital electronics design. Often, the engineer will be involved from the conception and design through to manufacture.

Experience of the design of digital and analogue systems, the implementation of FPGA designs and a familiarity with embedded software languages such as C++ are also considered essential.
