HP nano device implements memristor
HP Labs makes a nano-scale device which stores data, explains previous anomalies in nano-device characteristics, and may be able to act as a synapse in analogue neural networks. It is also the first physical implementation of the memristor, claims HP.
picoChip braced for femtocell boom
picoChip of Bath, the WiMAX and femtocell chip specialist, is shipping increasingly significant numbers of WiMAX ICs, but expects those shipments soon to be swamped by femtocell chip shipments.
Icera ships HSDPA/HSUPA RF chipset
Icera Semiconductor launches its first complete wireless chipset today, incorporating the RF front end chip which it acquired with its recent purchase of Canadian RF chip specialist house Sirifics.

Appeals court sides with Rambus in Samsung case
Rambus Tuesday announced that the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) issued a ruling vacating the order of the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) and instructing that Samsung Electronics' claims against the company be dismissed.
Icera wins baseband design-in
Icera Semiconductor, the Bristol wireless chip start-up, has achieved its first design win for a baseband in a wireless handset and is looking to raise another $60m in capital funding this year.

Samsung, Sony to invest $1.8b on LCD line
