|NewsletterRS Components has made its largest move to win business as supplier to manufacturing customers.
The online and catalogue distributor has restructured its pricing to make it more attractive for higher volume buying. It will also offer components in production packaging which will be more attractive to manufacturers.
"This is the biggest change to our business for very many years," Richard Eden, market development manager at RS told EW.
"We have realigned our volume pricing to market prices which means 500,000 lower prices on large order quantities and some price s have been reduced by up to 35 per cent," said Eden.
The new service represents an investment of around £4m.
Customers will be able to order products packed in reels, tubes, trays and continuous strips for placement directly into automated production equipment.
"Customers will be able to order the exact quantity of components they need for their production runs, at no extra cost," said Eden.
