|NewsletterSplashpower, the struggling Cambridge-based wireless power technology firm has been bought out of administration by Fulton Innovation a subsidiary of Alticor of the US.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Fulton Innovation has its own established wireless power technology called eCoupled and it holds or has pending 250 worldwide patents. Fulton said the acquisition reinforces its position in "the rapidly growing wireless power industry by expanding both the breadth and depth of Fulton’s substantial patent portfolio."
“By combining our own robust patent portfolio with Splashpower’s, we continue to strengthen and expand our
capabilities in the development of wireless power as well as our global presence," said Dave Baarman, director of advanced technologies for Fulton Innovation.
The assets of Splashpower were acquired out of administration. The Cambridge-based firm went into administration in March when it failed to secure the final tranche of its planned funding.
In January Splashpower signed a licensing agreement with Alba, the consumer manufacturer, to distribute wireless power products including a charger for a range of mobile phones and MP3 players.
