|NewsletterConfirming news reports from March, memory giant Hynix Semiconductor said yesterday it has extended its strategic alliance with ProMOS Technologies to include licensing Hynix's 50nm-class DRAM stack process technology to ProMOS, while ProMOS gives Hynix access to DRAM products from its 300-mm fab capacity.
Hynix said it would file the technology transfer documents with the government immediately.
Also, Hynix said it would cooperate with financial investors to buy 8 to 10% of shares in ProMOS through private placement to strengthen their long-term cooperation relationship.
Hynix and ProMOS first signed their long-term strategic alliance in 2004, which included technology licensing, foundry service and development of new generation memory production processes.
