|NewsletterImagination Technologies has reported a strong year with revenues up 25% at £60m compared with 2007.
Significantly for the semiconductor mobile, graphics and broadcast IP company, licensing revenues were up 56% and royalty revenues were 33% ahead at £10.9m.
“With very strong licensing revenue performance and continued progress in partner chip volume ramp-up, the growth in our Technology business was over three times the average of the IP industry as a whole," said Hossein Yassaie, chief executive.
The King's Langley-based company's Pure digital radio business also continues to fair well with 2007 revenues up 15% to £30.1m.
Pre-tax profit was £1.9m, representing a turnaround from a £2.3m loss 12 months ago.
"While the global economic slow-down remains a macro-level concern, based on the active pipeline of licensing opportunities, the expected volume ramp-up in partner chip shipments and Pure’s leading position and innovative product roadmap, we remain confident of continuing to make good progress in the current financial year," said Geoff Shingles, chairman.
The IP business includes more than 22 silicon IP core licences, and deals with Texas Instruments, NEC Electronics in the first half, and Renesas, Samsung, NEC Electronics and an IP design-in with Intel's Centrino Atom processor in the second half were highlights.
The Atom processor includes Imagination’s PowerVR SGX graphics and PowerVR VXD multi-standard HD video technologies.
Partner chips shipped increased to 47 million units, against 26 million last year.
"Our goal remains to achieve two hundred million annual unit shipments by our partners in the 2010 timeframe,” said Shingles.
