Nokia-Qualcomm shoot-out in Delaware
Next week starts the Nokia-Qualcomm shoot-out in the Delaware Chancery Court. It will decide first, whether Nokia impliedly extended its licensing agreement.
EC makes new charges against Intel
EC competition authorities spoil Intel's birthday by adding fresh charges to their long-running complaint against the company, including one that it paid a manufacturer to delay introducing an AMD range of processors.
AMD's CEO Hector Ruiz replaced by COO Dirk Meyer
AMD CEO Hector Ruiz has been replaced by COO Dirk Meyer after six years running the x86 processor rivals to Intel. Ruiz becomes executive chairman.

Counterfeit components cost industry £1bn a year
Counterfeit electronic components are entering the UK market in huge numbers, costing the economy an estimated £1bn a year, according to the UK Electronics Alliance (UKEA).

ON Semi plans Ireland R&D centre and new jobs
ON Semiconductor plans to establishment a new R&D centre in Limerick, Ireland, focused on digital power management and thermal management for next-generation processors.
Demise of TTPCom good for Cambridge, says Camitri

EC to cap roaming charges
At long last, despite the best efforts of the British Government, it seems that the end is in sight for the exorbitant roaming charges imposed on Europeans who use their mobile phones in Europe, but outside their native region.
XMOS may make standards unnecessary
XMOS Semiconductor, the consumer electronics chip start-up, will take in its first sales revenues this month, and will have its first production silicon out next quarter. It may have the effect of making standards unnecessary.

Qualcomm joins IMEC 3D programme
IMEC, Europe's leading microelectronics R&D centre, has taken on Qualcomm to join its programme to develop 3D silicon technologies. It's the first fabless chip company to join the IMEC programme.
Icera moves to 40nm
Icera Semiconductor, the wireless baseband start-up, may take another three years to become profitable as it works on migrating its chips to 40nm, but it doesn't need design-wins in the hand-set market to achieve a satisfactory IPO.
Cambridge and Bristol Link Up
Cambridge Wireless, the club of Cambridge-based wireless companies, has signed a memorandum of understanding to link up with Silicon South-West, the body which promotes the interests of hi-tech companies in the West of England.
