Avnet Memec has appointed Chris Shipway as country director for the UK.

In 1997 Shipway started semiconductor distributor Azzurri Technology and took on the responsibility of running the UK and Ireland, until Avnet Memec acquired Azzurri earlier this year.

“With his long experience in electronics industry and distribution he will be a value contribution to our team. His reputation in the market will enable Avnet Memec UK to further strengthen its position and maximise Avnet Memec business opportunities in the UK,” said Steve Haynes, president of Avnet Memec.

In his new role Shipway will report to Bill Walker, regional v-p sales Northern Europe.
