Vishay has extended its high reliability capacitor range to include what it claims is the first solid tantalum chip capacitor with a 63V rating to meet derating requirements in 28V power supplies.
"Lacking alternatives for 28V applications, until now designers have been forced to rely on 50V tantalum capacitors, which are unable to meet 50% voltage derating requirements," said the firm.
The 63V 22µF device, part of Vishay's T97 series, comes in an 'F' case. "These ratings are also available in a commercial version, the 597D series," it said.
Dual anode construction is used to cut ESR.
The T97 series has a capacitance range of 15 to 1,500µF and a voltage range from 4 to 63V.
ESR ranges from 15 to 300mΩ at 25°C and 100kHz.
Devices operate over -55 to +85°C, "+125°C with voltage derating", added Vishay.
