Farnell has signed a pan-European distribution agreement with Japanese manufacturer Rohm, covering its ranges of ICs, discrete semiconductors, displays and passive components.
The deal means that the online and catalogue distributor will carry more than 120 product lines from Rohm. The devices offered include drivers and receivers, transistors, diodes, LEDs and laser diodes.
The agreement with Farnell is part of Rohm’s re-organisation of its component activities in Europe.
“We have spent the last two years re-organising the company in Europe to address the IC market and we now see the IC business as key for the future,” Christian Andre, president of Rohm Europe told EW.
Andre believes Europe is important for two markets – wireless telecoms and automotive. “50% of all mobiles sold in the world are designed in Europe,” said Andre
“Farnell will bring high levels of expertise and service to support the engineering community looking to design-in Rohm semiconductor devices,” said Andre.
