DeepStream Technologies has plans to almost double its workforce by 2010.

The Bangor, North Wales-based sensor manufacturer currently employs 80 engineers and support staff, and hopes to increase this to 150 within two years.

DeepStream chief executive Mark Crosier made the announcement as it was visited by the Deputy First Minister of Wales, Ieuan Wyn Jones AM, to officially open its new production facility.

The production facility will carry out manufacture of the company’s encapsulated sensor technology for its first major customer, Moeller Automation, as part of a four-year, $16m contract announced in April 2008.

The company plans to develop a new purpose-built facility at Parc Menai Technology Park in Bangor, adjacent to DeepStream’s existing site.

This new premises will enable DeepStream to support business expansion and will be completed by 2010.

“These announcements are part of the ambitious growth plans we have for the next couple of years and demonstrate our intention to establish ourselves as a successful hi-tech manufacturing firm and a major employer in the North Wales region,” said Crozier.
