Ubiquisys, the 3G femtocell developer, has added a new silicon vendor to its list of chip suppliers which already includes Bath-based picoChip.

Percello, the Israel-based fabless SoC vendor, will see its silicon integrated into the Ubiquisys ZoneGate femtocell product due out this year.

“Percello will become a strategic supplier, opening up a new semiconductor supply channel for the company,” said Ubiquisys.

“Percello's PRC6000 offers high levels of integration and performance, it supports our femtocell's advanced features, and it does all this with low power consumption and at the right price," said Ubiquisys CEO Chris Gilbert.

Shlomo Gadot, Percello CEO, sees Swindon-based Ubiquisys as the leading femtocell vendor. “Ubiquisys has the most mature femtocell software stack, which has helped us accelerate the development of the PRC6000's advanced features,” said Gadot.

Percello’s SoC combines programmable multi processing DSPs and dedicated hardware accelerators.

Its first chip, PRC6000, is targeted at 3G UMTS femtocells. It is compliant to 3GPP Rel 7 baseline and is capable of delivering 21.6Mbit/s downlink and 5.76Mbit/s uplink.
