Knitter-switch MERP12 illuminated rotary encoders have been designed to replace traditional rotary potentiometers.

"These encoders are particularly suited to broadcast and professional audio applications where ambient lighting may be low and different coloured illumination can add to ease of use and reduce operational errors," said Terry Moss, sales manager at the firm."

"This can also be a benefit in industrial applications. And they can add functionality in digital control of signals and menus."

The actuator is illuminated with a single-coloured or multi-coloured LED and can be specified with or without a push-button action.

Contacts are 5Vdc 10mA rated, operating temperature range is -40 to +85°C and claimed lifetime is 30,000 operations
