Osram has added two power LEDs for projectors: one for phones and one for bigger machines.

Ostar Compact is 3.9x3.6mm, available in red, blue, green and white, and aimed at pico projectors in small mobile devices.

"Manufacturers wanting very compact units can use a double-chip version that contains a red chip and a blue chip in one LED," said Osram. "This saves space compared with the usual three individual red, blue and green LEDs."

Ostar Power Projection is aimed at home cinema systems of 70in. and more.

Typical output values are 2,700 lm in red, 3,500 lm in green and an optical output of 13W in blue.

The package is 45x25mm and offers a thermal resistance of 0.77K/W.

"The LED is suitable for all types of cooling, including water cooling," said Osram. "A uniform cooling system can be used for all colours because the junction temperature is 125°C for all colours."
