Nokia to cut 220 R&D jobs in Japan

Tuesday 24 November 2009 10:45

Nokia has announced that it will reduce its R&D activities in Japan.

This is part of a programme of streamlining its global R&D activities which includes a plan to reduce some of its R&D activities in Finland and Denmark.

Around 220 employees will be affected in Japan.

Nokia said that the Japanese operation of Nokia Siemens Networks, Nokia's network infrastructure business, is not affected by this announcement and
continues uninterrupted.

Earlier this month, Ericsson announced that it was winding down its R&D facility at Ansty Park in Coventry and will close with the potential loss of 700 jobs by the middle of next year.
