Wireless Logic, a UK-based machine-to-machine (M2M) SIM aggregator, is predicting significant growth in the M2M wireless device market next year.

"There are currently an estimated 2.1 million connected machine-to-machine devices in the UK, rising to 2.6 million by 2010 and 3.1 million by 2011," said Wireless Logic’s CEO, Oliver Tucker.

"The potential for the growth of this market, as companies start to understand the strategic importance of this technology, is boundless," said Tucker.

According to Tucker,  the average expected compound growth rate for the global M2M market is expected to reach 31% by 2012. "We are already seeing a growth rate far in excess of that which is extremely encouraging as we move into Europe," said Tucker.

Wireless Logic has seen 75% year-on-year growth in the number of connected SIMs that it now manages within the UK market.

As a result the company also increased its sales force by 25%.

According to Tucker, 2009 was a “milestone year in the adoption of M2M technology in the UK.”

The main sectors are telematics, vehicle tracking and smart metering. There was also more interest in SIM connectivity from a host of non-traditional sectors such as healthcare and agriculture.
