Plextek builds RF design links with US GaAs foundry

Friday 29 January 2010 10:12

Plextek has become a design partner with US-based RF device manufacturer TriQuint Semiconductor.

As a result the UK-based chip design house will join a list of RF design resources which TriQuint refers its foundry customers to for design services.

Plextek designs full custom GaAs MMICs  for applications, including broadband wireless access and wideband LNAs.

It has designed ICs for TriQuint’s fabs in both Oregon and Texas.

“We believe 3rd party design expertise, such as that provided by Plextek, will be invaluable to customers with limited design resources,” said Mike Peters, Director of Marketing for Commercial Foundry at TriQuint.

“Many of these customers are driving pilot programs to prove the viability of emerging markets critical to the growth of the RF industry.  We believe cooperative agreements such as this benefit the entire RF ecosystem,” said Peters.
