Fujitsu uses Cypress multi-touch in separable mobile display

Cypress Semiconductor has said that Fujitsu will use its touchscreen technology in its first separable handset to be sold by NTT DoCoMo.

The PRIME series F-04B mobile phone incorporates Cypress's CY8CTMG200 controller to drive the multi-touch interface in a 9.8mm form-factor that can operate separately from the keyboard.

The phone's keyboard is detachable from the display.

The phone has a 12.2-megapixel camera along with its 3.4-inch VGA touch display.

The display can be attached to a projector unit, enabling users to view phone content on a screen as large as 66 inches.

According to Norm Taffe, executive v-p of Cypress's consumer and computation division, the firm’s TrueTouch technology now supports a 1mm stylus.

A video demonstration of Cypress's recently announced hover feature can be seen on the company website.
