Test house supports SMEs with RoHS website

With under 10 months until the RoHS deadline, RFI Global Services has launched a website dedicated to the RoHS and WEEE directives.

The UK test house has developed a range of tutorials and guides aimed especially at smaller companies. These can be found at www.rohs-weee.uk.com.

Online tutorials include voiceovers that run alongside the presentations, said RFI. They range from basic introductions to advanced in-depth studies of the requirements of the WEEE and RoHS. Implementation guides explain how the directives work.

RFI said a similar set of tutorials and guides will be available for the EuP Directive in the near future. The Energy using Products directive aims to improve eco-design, but mainly to harmonise regulations across Europe so fair trade is maintained.

RFI is not the first firm in the UK to launch a site dedicated to RoHS and WEEE. The distributors were among the first to offer information services, with firms including Dionics (www.pb-free.info), Farnell (www.rohs.info) and RS (rswww.com/rohs) leading the charge.

Other useful contributions are coming from Soldertec (www.lead-free.org), which has a significant amount of experience working with lead-free solders.
