DeepStream Technologies is one manufacturer which seems to be bucking the downturn in the UK economy.
The North Wales-based smart sensor company is expanding its workforce and has taken on a new HR manager to support the recruitment process.
“This is a very busy time, as we continue to develop our business and prepare for growing consumer and business demand for our range of Energy Intelligence products, which will enable people to measure, monitor and control their energy consumption,” Marc Crosier, chief executive of DeepStream.
In October, DeepStream announced plans to almost double its workforce from 80 to 150 by 2010.
“Suzanna Garnett, our new HR manager’s experience and expertise will be hugely important as we develop our team, hire new staff and continue to encourage a supportive workplace culture,” said Crosier.
“I’ve spent 12 years working in larger retail firms, so as a young and fast-growing company in an emerging sector, DeepStream is a new and exciting challenge for me,” said Garnett, who has previously worked for Matalan and Asda.
DeepStream has research, development and volume manufacturing facilities at its facility in Bangor, North Wales.
The company has secured both private and public funding from organisations including Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures, 3i, HSBC and the Welsh Assembly Government.
