Agere Systems has signed a new licence agreement with Dutch firm Silicon Hive for its HiveFlex CSP 2000 series communications processor.

This is the second licence between the firms. Previously Agere Systems licensed Silicon Hive’s HiveFlex XSP 1000 series processor which it used in a consumer printing product.

"We have had a successful on-going relationship with Agere Systems since 2004 and are pleased to be able to provide an additional new HiveFlex core to them in a new application domain," said George Szanto, v-p of marketing at Silicon Hive.

Semiconductor IP supplier Silicon Hive is a spin out from Philips and it specialises in multi-core programmable processors. It also supplies specialist IP and development tools which allow designers to combine multiple cores, memories, buses and FIFO communications.
