Movea, the TV platform developer, has signed a deal with Korea company Actron Co, to promote its motion-sensing controller technology as part of a planned expansion into Asia.

Seoul-based Actron will head Movea's business development activities in Korea.

"The Asia Pacific market is a key part of our globalisation plans and some of the world's leading consumer electronics companies are based out of Korea," said Bryan Hoadley, Movea's executive v-p for sales and marketing.

"Korean Consumer Electronics companies are leading the pace of innovation throughout the world," said Hoadley.

Actron has experience in the MEMS and motion control area and also has TV and set-up box customers.

"We have well established contacts within the television, remote control and STB manufacturing industries," said Steve Choi, founder and president of Actron.

"Movea's MoveTV platform provides the PayTV ecosystem players the technology components to enable intuitive motion control and advanced gesture recognition, replacing the button overloaded remotes to control digital home entertainment system," said Choi
