MediaTek, The Taiwanese fabless hand-set chip-set specialist, has extended its ARM licensing arrangements for Mali GPUs, Cortex processors and System IP.

‘The Mali-T600 Series GPUs and advanced CPUs will enable MediaTek to offer SOCs for mobile devices, such as superphones, based on the latest ARM graphics and GPU compute capabilities and a CPU paradigm that will redefine the traditional power and performance relationship,’ says MediaTek, ‘ARM System IP is particularly beneficial to developers of multicore GPU / CPU SoCs where bus interconnect technology is key to achieving the best performance and optimal efficiency.’

"ARM is working closely with partners, such as MediaTek, to make this a reality by bringing visual computing to life with the latest GPU technology and by providing applications processors that are both energy-efficient and able to deliver the highest performance,” says  Mike Inglis, executive vice president and general manager, processor division, ARM.
