Sheffield based Jennic has announced a range of ZigBee modules, including one with 4km range.

Based around the firm's JN5148 wireless microcontroller, the modules are aimed at ZigBee PRO applications.

  • JN5148-001-M00 with an integrated printed antenna.
  • JN5148-001-M03 which has a µFl connector for external antennas.
  • JN5148-001-M04 is the long-range version with an additional power amplifier and low noise amplifier, plus a µFl connector.

The modules have a 98dB link budget (118dB for the M04) and operate from 2.3-3.6V, requiring 15mA when transmitting and 17.5mA when receiving.

All of the modules include a 4Mbit flash memory for local data storage and over-the-air upgrades.

Operation is from -40 to +85°C.
