RF Engines, the Isle of Wight-based signal processing design firm, is sponsoring the 2009 MSc in DSP programme at the University of York.

The company is providing two awards of £1,500 that will be presented to graduates of the course who have excelled in theoretical signal processing and signal processing design.

“Several of our staff are graduates of the University’s programme in signal processing, which focuses on the latest techniques in FPGA-based digital design and is probably one of the best programmes in the UK for training students in advanced DSP techniques,” said John Summers, RFEL’s CEO.

Doctor Yuriy Zakharov, Leader of the DSP programme, added, “It is vitally important to provide students with hands-on experience of the challenges faced in the real world by working closely with industry.”

The one-year full-time taught MSc programme in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) starts in October 2009 at York University.

This programme will teach the theoretical foundations of DSP methods and develop skills in practical implementation techniques such as FPGA design.

The MSc in DSP is designed for graduates in mathematics, engineering, physics or computer science, and will provide a good route to a career in any of the varied industries that use DSP technology for students with any of these backgrounds.
