Fujitsu is the latest mobile supplier to introduce a smartphone based on the Windows Phone operating system.
Windows Phone is Microsoft's software platform which is competing against Apple's iOS and Google's Android in the all-important smartphone market. Earlier this year Nokia, the world's largest supplier of handsets, decided to adopt Windows Phone as its smartphone platform.
The IS12T smartphone goes on sale in Japan this month, through KDDI Corporation and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company.
It will be the first smartphone in Japan to run Windows Phone 7.5.
Aimed at consumer users looking to use social media capabilities such as Facebook and Twitter, the handset has 32Gbyte of built-in memory and a 13.2 megapixel camera.
To support the 13.2 megapixel camera that can capture high-definition still images there is the Milbeaut Mobile image-processing engine. As a result still images and movies can be viewed on DLNA-certified widescreen televisions and PCs.
The IS12T also provides access to Microsoft's free Windows Live SkyDrive cloud service, through which users can store and share up to roughly 25GB of data.
The 59mm thick handset also has water- and dust-resistant technology.
