Deltenna WiBE rural hotspot sold in retail channel

Deltenna, whose WiBE technology turns a 3G signal into a WiFi hotspot, is selling its devices through resellers Cetag in Ireland and Buzz Networks in the UK. The £425 price is expected to come down as volumes grow.

WiBE brings WiFi to rural areas. It was adjudged one of the top four UK wireless innovations in the ‘Best of Britsh Mobile Technology’ awards given by the UKTI.

WiBE delivers data at 30X the throughput of a USB dongle and at 3-5X the range of a dongle. Maximum throughput is 7.2Mbps with a typical download speed of 2.8Mbps in rural areas.

The device can sniff out a 3G signal where a USB dongle won’t register a signal.

WiBE’s technology enables the hotspot to identify the cell with the best signal for throughput ,and configures itself to latch onto that signal and block interference.
