Electronic Engineers can choose to specialise in many aspects of electronic engineering including; electronic devices, analogue circuits, digital circuits, control systems and communications, electromagnetics and network theory
An Electronics Engineer will typically design and create electronic systems, they will also test these systems and analyse the results and report the findings. Other duties may include maintenance and development of existing and future electrical systems, improvement and installation of current systems and the maintenance of electronic elements of projects.
Electronics Engineer Job Description
Typically, responsibilities of the electronics engineer may include the following:
- To provide and maintain costing data in support of a project
- To prepare provision of technical support for test programmes.
- To supervise junior staff and guide the work of support staff
- To contribute to the development of engineering analysis facilities
- To create sub-system design specifications and interface specifications.
- To undertake training of staff if requested to do so by their line manager
Electronics Engineer Qualifications/Experience
An engineering degree will be essential and there are many Universities with Engineering / Electrical Engineering Schools / Departments. Industry-specific qualifications may also be required, for example, qualification to EMC standards for military or defence work. Experience in particular fields, such as in digital electronics, motor and servo control equipment or software, would also be desirable.
