Netherlands-based SiTel Semiconductor has secured a design-in with Broadcom for its voice-over-IP wireless technology.
The design-in follows the announcement last March that the two companies were developing access device reference designs based on Broadcom's digital subscriber line (xDSL) gateway chipsets and SiTel's DECT / CAT-iq cores.
Broadcom’s multi-standard access device for ADSL2+ broadband, 802.11n wireless, digital cordless and voice-over-IP (VoIP) incorporates a DECT CAT-iq core from SiTel.
The core supports DECT, DECT6.0 and CAT-iq for multi-line cordless VoIP.
“DECT is a proven technology for reliable, long-range wireless connectivity. When you factor in the extra functionality CAT-iq enables, like increased bandwidth for high definition sound and streaming wireless music, it’s an ideal match for integrated access devices,” said Marius Bouman product marketing manager of SiTel Semiconductor.
SiTel Semiconductor was established in 2005 following a management buy-out from National Semiconductor.
It is a fabless IC manufacturer with design centres in the Netherlands and Greece.
