Companies see this year’s Electronica exhibition as an important barometer for the European electronics market.
Europe’s largest electronics event, which takes place in Munich in November, comes at an important time as the market recovers from the horrors of 2009.
“The companies we have spoken to say they are looking for to the exhibition as an important market driver this year,” Electronica exhibition director, Nicole Schmitt told EW.
In 2008, Electronica attracted over 72.000 visitors, and Schmitt is confident they can match that this year, despite the market downturn of 2009.
Overall the exhibition won’t be bigger than two years ago when it was last held, but Schmitt was pleased to see NXP Semiconductors returning after an absence
“Right now the exhibition is almost full, things are looking very, very good,” said Schmitt.
The event’s flagship semiconductor roundtable session has already signed up some leading company CEOs including Freescale’s Rich Beyer, NXP’s Richard Clemmer and Infineon’s Peter Bauer.
Conference sessions will also cover a number of automotive and wireless technologies and renewable energy systems.
Electronica 2010 takes place at the Munich Trade Fair Centre on 9-12 November.
