Tektronix runs oscilloscope as 20GHz spectrum analyser

Tektronix has released SignalVu: vector signal analysis software for its DPO7000 and DPO/DSA70000 digital oscilloscope series, enabling engineers to characterise and validate complex wideband and microwave spectral events up to 20GHz without an external down converter.

“One of the paramount trends in today’s communications and radar systems is the need for increased information bandwidth and accurate phase and magnitude characterisation of wideband signals,” said the firm.

SignalVu combines the signal analysis engine of the RSA6100A real-time spectrum analyser with the triggering capabilities of its DPO7000 and DPO/DSA70000 digital oscilloscope series.

It controls all scope acquisition parameters such as record length, vertical scaling and sample rate, and the result is display of RF characteristics in the frequency, time, phase, and power domains without the need for manual setups.

The system makes 21 automated measurements on every pulse.

Applications include wideband radar, high data rate satellite links, and frequency hopping communications.

Existing DPO7000 customers can download the software for a number of free trials.
