RS Components is the latest big name distributor to sign up to a compliance scheme in accordance with the UK government’s WEEE Regulations.

RS has chosen the WeeeCare scheme which has national coverage and which will collect, recycle or dispose of, in an environmentally sound way, obligated WEEE.

“We hope that our partnership with WeeeCare will give our customers confidence that as a producer we have selected the most environmentally friendly method to demonstrate compliance,” said Lee Kilminster, RS WEEE project manager.

The Environment Agency has recently reminded firms about the importance of registering with a compliance scheme.

The DTI published its advice on the implementation in the UK of the European WEEE Directive last month. It tells firms how they must manage their electrical waste by supporting recycling of products.

RS has also launched an online information centre to help customers understand more about the WEEE UK regulations.

As well as answering the most frequently asked questions, the site also offers advice on which products are affected.  It also has handy links to find out more about the WEEE UK regulations and how to comply with the disposal of products.
