Designers need smart tools, says Tektronix president

Wednesday 29 September 2010 07:30

"Technology has come a long way in the last 50 years – you only have to compare modern smart phones with early computers from the 1960s, for example, to see just how far we have advanced," Amir Aghdaei, president at Tektronix tells Electronics Weekly.

"With consumers today demanding better and better performance from their electronic devices, it seems certain that the pace of change and innovation will continue unabated, and we can only begin to imagine what the future may hold in store for us.

"One thing however is certain, driving these changes will be skilled engineers who need smart tools to help them get their designs to market faster and more efficiently, without compromising on quality.

"It is, of course, impossible to predict the future, however as nations and individuals become richer, and as consumer expectations grow it seems likely that we will see new markets and opportunities opening up over the coming years and decades.

"One trend that looks set to continue is the increased focus on “greener” technologies, (driven by both consumer expectations and government regulations), and I would expect to see an increased demand from our customers for test tools that will allow them to increase the energy efficiency of their designs and reduce their environmental footprint."
