ARM reports best ever quarterly revenue performance

ARM has reported what its CEO Warren East called "the best quarterly revenue performance in its history".

The microprocessor developer was also far from downbeat about future prospects given the current global economic concerns.

"Earnings growth was more than 20% on dollar revenue growth of 7%," said East.

"Although the global macroeconomic conditions make the near-term trading environment uncertain, based on the order backlog, robust licensing pipeline and underlying momentum in royalties, we expect that group dollar revenues in Q4 2008 will be at least in line with expectations," said the company.

ARM also expects profits and earnings will benefit further from the strengthening of the dollar against sterling.

Third quarter revenues were up 7% at $134.4m and this made year-to-date revenues at $396.8m, up 3% on 2007.

Total dollar license revenues in Q3 2008 fell by 17% to $45.9m. License revenues comprised $35.5m from processors, up 18% sequentially, and $10.4m from Physical IP Division.

"Growth of at least 30% year-on-year in royalty revenues for both PD and PIPD provides further evidence of the increasing use of ARM's technology in a broadening range of consumer electronics products," said East.

See ARM's Investor website for details of the results, or the Google Finance page for ARM.
