Scottish design consultancy Elonics said it will begin looking for investor funding, after winning a research and development grant worth £500,000 to develop its RF technology.
Elonics said the SpurPlus grant from the Scottish Executive would help to further develop the technology and conduct trials in the near future.
David Srodzinski, Elonics' CEO, said that the funding and patents it has received "paves the way for investor funding within the coming months".
The DigitalTune technology allows multiple RF components to be fabricated on a single CMOS substrate. Resulting devices operate over a wide range of frequencies, claimed Elonics.
“We shall demonstrate major aspects and conduct trials of DigitalTune technology in the near future to both potential baseband and processor partners and major OEMs," said Srodzinski.
In August of 2005 the firm started an expansion, bringing in three senior engineers from Cadence's operation in the region.
Based in Livingston, Elonics was one of the key firms to use the Alba Innovation Centre.
