Our client’s are charged with taking on different area’s of new technology and developing it into products for new markets. This new company is supporting military and commercial organisations, introducing and developing load cells/ strain gauges electronic techniques.

One of the new technology developments is now underway and we require experienced electronics personnel to develop products within a tight time frame from concept to sales.

Job Purpose:


To undertake new product development focussing on as a minimum:

• time to market
• right first time both in terms of product and associated costs
• improving transfer from development to production
• producing a clear agreement between engineering, market companies and customer


Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. New products
• Work within a staged (gated) development process
• Development of technical specifications derived from market requirements
• Creation of concepts
• Concept feasibility, scheduling and budgeting
• Creating and performing product testing
• Designing and responsible for building test equipment
• Product cost estimation.
• Industrial design/customer interface

• Model - mock ups.
• Generate CAD drawings using AutoCad or similar
• Investigate required product related approvals/codes
• Agree styling design
• Functionality

• Prototypes
• Entire process of acquiring parts, designing parts, jigs and fixtures & building them into a working sample.

• CAD prototype engineering
• Create CAD drawings of product, manufacturing equipment, test equipment
• Review customer feedback
• Review product performance against market specification
• Product cost estimation
• Define unique selling arguments
• Local market requirements
• Product cost confirmation
• CAD detail drawings
• Release final CAD files for the product and process
• Be part of the manufacturing process team.

• Prototypes tested in-house
• Test samples to ensure product meets spec
• Gain product approvals
• Perform FMEA and other risk analysis as part of a team

• Final Prototypes
• Final working sample for customer evaluation.
• Agreements with key suppliers
• Field trials
• Tooling procurement

• Complete design review
• Generate full test report including test data, BOM’s, DL/DM etc.
• Part Validation
• After sales documentation

• Qualification testing and finalize approvals
• Submittal sample approval with data.
• Product and production process validation

• Technical File
• Complete and maintain build file creation.
• Technical training
• Production support
• Technical feedback.

• Product and Project cost review.

2. Existing products.

• Handle design changes to existing product lines in view of Quality, Process improvement, Customer complaints, customer feedback.
• Approvals and submittal samples as and when required

Person Specification:

Attributes:

Essential Criteria:
• Innovative
• Competent in the design of small signal analogue amplifiers
• Design for sensor & instrumentation (static and dynamic systems)
• Experience in the layout and design of PCB's
• Experience in FPGA's, control I/O, analogue I/O, CANbus, Modbus, ProfiBus, Ethernet PHY
• Contribute to an international team
• Attention to detail
• Competent user of Microsoft Word & Excel
• User of 2D AutoCad

Desirable Criteria:
• Experienced in the use of ADC's, DAC's, ARM and PIC processors
• Familiarity with SMD production methods
• System integration for process control
• User of Microsoft Access or similar database software

Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years industrial experience (Essential)
• Working in a multi-site, international company (Desirable)

Qualifications:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent in an electronic engineering discipline (Essential)

Personal Considerations:
• Flexibility to work some evenings and occasional weekends
• Must be prepared to travel both nationally and internationally
