Program Manager, Renewable Energy, California
This Program Manager position will plan, control and manage product development programs, product sustaining engineering activities and accelerated life testing programs for three-phase grid-tie solar inverter and wind converter products that are designed and manufactured in Livermore CA and sold worldwide.
Responsibilities
Program management of new Renewable Energy product development and/or product modification / improvement programs from concept through launch to volume manufacturing.
Lead the multi-disciplinary Core program team responsible for delivering results; Core team typically includes Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Customer Service, Sales, Finance, Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain representatives.
Manage the cross functional engineering team responsible for new product development and sustaining engineering of Renewable Energy products in production.
Coordinate sustaining activities between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service and Product Management.
Facilitate delivery of program documentation e.g.: Market Requirements & Business Case; Functional Specification; Quality & Reliability, Service and Manufacturing Plans; Design Verification and Customer Validation Test plans; and, Product Launch plan.
Prepare and own the Program Plan (Scope, Schedule, Resources, Budget) and product cost targets.
Organize, prepare materials for, and conduct phase-gate reviews for the Product Approval Committee (PAC) as required by the Product Development and Support (PD&S) processes; facilitate required design reviews.
Ensure teams meet reliability, product cost, schedule, budget, business case, quality and regulatory targets.
Provide Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and progress reports to senior management.
Support the Change Review Board (CRB), Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Quality Corrective Action Requests (CAR) for Renewable Energy products in production.
Assist in development of process to improve delivery of new products to launch.
Requirements
Must have a combination of education and experience with an Engineering Degree in an electrical or mechanical discipline and minimum of 6 years experience in a high technology company. A Diploma of Technology and significant work experience will be considered.
A supplementary Business Degree/Diploma or equiv. training and experience is an asset.
Must have experience in product development, new product introduction and manufacturing or design for manufacturing.
Must have training or equivalent experience in project management and stage-gate product development processes. Must be familiar with project management tools, such as Microsoft Project.
Must have proven track record of launching new products to cost targets on schedule and budget.
2+ years experience in a leadership/management/ supervisory role managing teams of technical and non-technical staff.
Experience in resource planning and motivation of project teams.
Strong problem solving skills and able to work under tight deadlines.
Able to work in a fast paced environment.
Working knowledge of Bills of Material, ERP system, manufacturing processes.
Ability to travel within North America Asia and Europe.
Experience in root cause analysis, quality process and reliability / accelerated life testing is an asset.
Experience in a sustaining engineering / continuing product improvement environment is an asset.
Experience with regulatory compliance testing and UL1741, IEEE1541, VDE0126 standards is an asset.
